Try an Asian fusion style bottomless brunch to transport your tastebuds across the world

This post is a review for SOHE situated on Osbourne Road, Jesmond. A Pan-Asian style food to take your tastebuds on a journey of flavours in collaboration with O pr. From dish to dish you will not be disappointed. Being a fussy eater myself, I did not struggle to enjoy every dish. My mouth was exploding with happiness. The flavourful selection will keep you wanting more. I must say I am an absolute foodie. I can be wary of trying new foods but I was glad I did.

Bottomless brunch menu

To book a bottomeless lunch experience you can do so here

What happens?

First of all, your table is reserved and ready for you to arrive. You will be greeted by your server or in our case the manager, Brett who will explain how your meal will work. You start your experience with a glass of water whilst you browse through the delicious choices.

two cocktails

Ready to order your first cocktail? We had the choice to switch it up, which I found brilliant. We tried the Yuzu and Jasmine spritz first and wow, it was divine.

Tell me about the food

Ok, so the first selection of food starts with the Prawn crackers with a Tamarind sauce. These prawn crackers are fresh and do have a strong prawn flavour which was nice compared to your bog standard prawn crackers. I’ve never tried Tamarind sauce before and it was delicious, Lauren loved it so much it was nearly gone before we finished the prawn crackers.

Next, you’re brought your sharing starter which is enough for you as a main but wow, I could eat that myself.

This included:

◘ Chicken Satay with a peanut dip ( The best I’ve never tasted)
◙ Vegetable Spring rolls with a Sweet Chill Sauce
◘ Salt and Chilli Squid

My favourite was defiantly the Satay Chicken. I even asked what was in the sauce as I couldn’t get over how amazing it was. I’d say that’s the BEST in Newcastle! Yes, that’s a Bold statement to make, but, Lauren and I have to say it’s true. Im may give it a go on making my homemade one and see how close I can get to that tasty perfection. We even used the left over sauce for the remaining prawn crackers.

The mains

On the menu you have a selection of mains which are all served with steamed Jasmine rice. From Chicken Katsu to King Prawns they have your palettes of choice covered. On this occasion, I could’nt not go for Chicken Katsu as this dish is one of my favourites. Lauren chose the King Prawn Singapore Vermicelli as she loves seafood.

Brett ( The manager) asked if we would like any sides and I asked what he would recommend. He chose the Pak Choi and black bean and the Asian salad for us. Wow, best choices Brett! What I loved about this was being able to ask for a recommendation and with no hesitation, he knew straight away. Having worked In the hospitality industry for over 7years at one point, I know the importance of making your customers trust your decisions and we were not disappointed.

4 dishes of food and 2 glasses of Prosecco

Chicken Katsu 5/5

I loved the texture of the perfectly steamed Jasmine rice and the sauce, “Oh my” , the sauce was amazing. Lauren even tried some on her prawns. There was nothing about this dish that I could have faulted it was delicious from the first bite to my last.

King Prawn Singapore 4.5/5

Lauren loved the prawns and they were perfectly cooked. The noodles we smooth and full of flavour. I tried some of them and I also enjoyed them. This would be a dish I would order, but for me, I really have to fancy prawns, as I don’t eat them often. I loved the vegetables in the dish to really give it some different texture and add some vibrant colour throughout it really did make it appealing to the eye. To be honest very dish was amazing to look at.

pak choi

Pak Choi  5/5

This was absolutely delicious, I would recommend if you are using chopsticks to first cut it up into smaller pieces or you will get sauce on your face. Speaking from experience. Recommend by the manager this did not disappoint, in-fact, I will be ordering this again.

asian salad

The Asian Salad

From the first look I was a little curious as looking this isn’t usually my ideal side, but the flavours outweighed my thoughts. The top had a crushed white rice sprinkle over the top which doused in coriander and lime ( I think ) throughout. This dish adds a nice change to your palette throughout your meal as a cleanser I would say.

Desserts

Unfortunately, we were too full to sample a dessert off the menu, but they sounded lovely. Lauren nearly tried the Chill and rum roasted pineapple crumble.

Aperol Spritz

The drinks

We tried a mix of drinks, but what I really liked about the options is there is a beer option. So, if you are not into drinking prosecco or cocktails you can have a beer instead which sounded amazing, but we were feeling more fizz on our girly bottomless lunch.

The staff

Brilliant, I have to say the friendliness of the staff is wonderful to see. Nothing was a bother, nothing was an issue even when they weren’t serving you they still looked happy to be at work.

The interior

Gorgeous inside and full of atmosphere the vibrant setting will transport you away from your work worries and your life problems. Sit back and relax your delicious food choices and forget about any worries for 90minutes.

Overall, I would highly recommend booking up for a “Bottomless Brunch” this was my first experience and I’m glad as I will defiantly be doing this again. From start to finish it’s certainly and experience you will want to endure.
