Dr. Numb® helps you in your time of need – Review

This post is a collaboration with Dr Numb to give my honest review around the Dr.Numb® Lidocaine Cream 5% – Topical Anesthetic. Having used numbing creams in the past for my tattoos I was intrigued by this as It has a multi-purpose use. I am looking to get another tattoo soon but I am finding it so hard to choose. This cream is also good for temporary relief of pain, itching associated with minor burns, sunburn, minor cuts, scrapes, insect bites or minor skin irritations.

Freshly homemade chocolate orange cupcakes

Being a rather an accident-prone person, I managed to burn myself when baking some delicious cupcakes. I applied a little pea-sized portion of the cream to my burn and felt relief as it took away the horrible sting. First of all, I ran my burn under cold water and cleaned the area. I then applied the cream. There is no distinctive smell and I felt relief within 15mins minutes which was comofrting to be as the pain had gne.

insect bites on the back with Dr Numb ® cream on top.
UK insect bites

I’ll definitely be taking one on holiday as the mosquitoes love to bite the hell out of me. Honestly, it’s like they say Sophie’s here and just use me as a food source my whole holiday. Insect bites can happen here in the UK and we don’t always know what did it to us, but, I experienced some bites on my back recently and applied the cream which to my amazement disappeared the next day. The itchiness stopped after around 15-20minutes. When applying the cream on the skin it dissolves creating a thin oil layer, you’ll see a slight shine. you won’t get messy though so don’t worry.

Nervous around needles

Being petrified of needles….but you have a tattoo? It’s different, trust me it’s not the same. I do like to numb the skin where possible, as recently I was unfortunate to get pneumonia and had to have a few blood tests and there was no numbing cream to take the pain away – I actually passed out with the pain, as the needle wouldn’t go in due to dehydration. I wish I had of had this cream sooner, as I would have put it on before I went to the hospital, to avoid the anxiety of freaking out of a small needle.

In the past, I have bought over the counter numbing cream which comes in a 2g tube, it’s tiny. However, pharmacists are very sceptical of giving it to people who may use them for tattoos, but, they looked at me and said you don’t look the type. Oops, I’m sorry I am the type to want to take away some pain. ok, I may have told a little white lie to get it in the past but now I don’t have to worry.

Kitchen Saviour

My partner is a Head chef and can experience burns in his kitchen on a daily basis, so, he keeps the second tube of cream at work just in case it is needed. Due to the working environment around hot stoves and ovens accidents can happen but the service doesn’t stop, especially as it’s constantly busy.
